Deborah Husbands is a part-time doctoral researcher and part-time lecturer in the Psychology Department. With an interest in intersectionality and specific focus on experiences of Black and Minority Ethnicity students, Deborah’s research uses cultural narratives from Black female students to explore ways in which they are constructing identity in higher education. Her research also draws on identity theories, social constructionism and feminist perspectives.
Kathryn Waddington is Head of the Psychology Department at the University of Westminster. Her particular areas of interest and expertise are leadership and team development, organisational communication and culture, emotion in organisations, employee engagement and the ‘dark side’ of practice. She has researched and published widely in these areas, and is author of the book Gossip and Organizations. Her more recent work explores the role of compassion in university life.
From: 25 Oct 2016, noonThe university will be holding an event to celebrate Ada Lovelace Day, titled #IntersectionalityMatters. This will be held on Tuesday 25th October, 12 – 2.30pm, The Hub, ILS2.

Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration day of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). It aims to increase the profile of women in STEM and, in doing so, create new role models who will encourage more girls into STEM careers and support women already working in STEM.
