Speaker's Biography

Steve’s background is primarily private sector as a Chartered Civil and Marine Engineer, having spent time in both Civil and Offshore design and construction industries.
For 22 years, Steve was Global President of structural products for an American structural software company. During this time, Steve forged strong international partners across the world, having both technical and commercial responsibilities.

Steve later returned to Wales to take up the role of Managing Director of the commercial arm of the University of Wales and was also Business Director at the University. Their outreach was global in nature and growth was strong within the organisation.

Following this role, Steve worked in the Netherlands for a Civil Engineering, Finite Element software company as Global Business/Commercial Director and at Coleg Gwent’s as Managing Director of their outward facing company, employed to evaluate their commercial activity. Steve came back to Swansea in 2019.

Steve’s focus has always been on long term customer partnerships, quality of service and growth and promoting innovation

Jess has 15 years’ experience working in industry of which 7 years were as the Business Development Manager for a local engineering company, supporting the company to double its turnover in this time to become a multi-million turnover company.

Joining the University in 2017 as the Business Engagement Officer, Jess covers all faculties to support engagement between external partners and our academic community, primarily around RD&I and related funding opportunities.

Jess has a strong focus on putting relationships first to support long term engagement and collaboration.
