The School of Management is hosting the British Standards Institution (BSI) on the 13th-15th June, where they are holding public committee meetings surrounding the soon to be launched ISO 45001 and ISO 9004.

The first meeting on the 13th June will be to explore and discuss the new international standard for Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) – the ISO 45001. This document will replace the existing standard OHSAS 18001.

Currently two million people die yearly from work related incidents and the number of people suffering life altering health conditions caused by their work is exponentially higher. These harrowing figures indicate a pressing need for a standard designed specifically to ensure organisations manage risk and improve OH&S to protect workers at all levels.

If you are currently working with OHSAS 18001 or you are looking to, this event should not be missed! You will have the opportunity to hear about key changes from the latest draft of IS 45001; have the chance to debate potential issues for the UK and help plan how we will contribute in the final drafting stage of this standard.

This update is vital; Anne Hayes, Head of Governance and Resilience at BSI said, “Occupational health and safety is a serious matter for all businesses worldwide, regardless of their size or sector. BSI is proud to be involved with developing a clear framework for businesses wishing to maintain or improve safety within their workplaces”

On the 15th June BSI are also giving guests the chance to comment and influence the Quality Management standard, ISO 9004: Managing for the sustained success of an organisation. This standard provides guidance to organisations to support the achievements of sustained success and is applicable to any organisation, regardless of size, type and activity.

Alongside these two committee meetings the BSI are also offering two practical sessions introducing the process of commenting and on how to comment effectively.

Do not miss this opportunity to have your say! To attend any or all sessions please register.
