Swansea University ranks 4th in the UK for spin-out company creation. But have *you* ever considered commercialising your research through a spin-out company? Are you interested in taking your research out into the world to achieve maximum impact? Hear what it takes first hand from someone who’s successfully developed scientific start-up companies.
We are pleased to welcome Dr Robert Porter, Swansea alumnus founder and CEO of RAPIvD Ltd, a contract research and manufacturing company that specialises in developing lateral flow and other in vitro diagnostic (IVD) technologies.
Robert will share his personal experiences in multiple start-up companies and will elaborate on what it takes to attract investors, emphasising what investors are looking for in a management team and business, including different types of investors (and the amounts they invest at each stage of growth) and the challenges in the present economic climate.
There will be a chance for networking over refreshments after the session. The faculty IP & Commercialisation Leads will be on hand to explain specific processes within the University for spinning-out and starting your entrepreneurial journey.
