This debut feature film by Llanfilo native Joshua Trigg, follows Satu, an orphaned child labourer in Laos. When a bomb endangers the Pha Tang temple, 'Satu' an orphan child labourer decides to head north through the rich and feral landscape of Laos in search of his long-lost mother with his new photojournalist friend 'Bo'.
Brecon-born Joshua Trigg, inspired by a decade of filmmaking in Southeast Asia, brings his deep connection to the region to Satu – Year of the Rabbit. Shot on 16mm, the film’s stunning visuals enhance its heartfelt story.
Supported by Film Hub Wales, the film has garnered international acclaim, including a nomination for Best Directorial Debut at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA).
This film is a testament to Welsh talent making a mark on the global stage.
