This training will support researchers in effectively identifying and developing the real-world applications and positive societal effects of their research.

The session will focus on the diverse ways in which humanities and social science researchers can work outside of academia with partners and beneficiaries to deliver impact via their research.

The session will:

• Define the term ‘research impact’ and what forms this can take across the humanities and social sciences.
• Make clear the difference between traditional research activities, outputs & impact.
• Demonstrate the value of research with impact.
• Provide some examples of impact in practice.
• Discuss how to develop impact via your research.
• Provide guidance on working with external partners and beneficiaries.
• Highlight methods, tools and support to deliver and demonstrate impact.
