This one-hour course teaches how to:
- pronounce Welsh words, place names, department names
- answer the phone in Welsh (good morning / afternoon)
- use basic every-day words and phrases incl. in meetings
The course sets the context of the Welsh Language Standards and also provides sign-posting for further Welsh lessons.

Those that complete the course will have reached 'level 1' Welsh as defined in Swansea University recruitment process and within the ABW Welsh skills self-assessment framework.

Target audience:
Staff members who have assessed their Welsh language skills at level 0 (‘not at all’) or 1 (‘a little’) on ABW.
It is also for staff members who are expected to reach level 1 as a condition of their employment.
