This event is part of the Staff Training series
From: 28 May 2024, 1 p.m.Some of the chemicals in use in University laboratories have the potential to cause serious harm to workers. Traditional first aid at work training does not cover what to do in the event of chemical exposures in detail. This course has been designed for HF and other laboratory workers and existing first aiders to recognise and react to chemical first aid incidents.
On returning to the workplace course participants will:
• Be able to identify chemical hazards and understand common types of harm
• Know how to respond to an incident safely and how to get help
• Learn how to apply relevant first aid measures to prevent further harm including, where relevant, the use of specialist treatments.
The course is aimed at University Laboratory staff, postgraduate research students and First Aiders who work in areas where very hazardous chemicals are used including Hydrofluoric acid.
