The risk assessment course is aimed at line managers, leaders and post graduate researchers and provides a practical approach to completing risk assessment in the workplace. The course covers effective hazard identification, risk assessment and appropriate risk control. Participants in the course will be given the opportunity to complete a risk assessment and discuss common issues arising in their work area.
Following attendance at this course, participants will be able to complete risk assessment using the HSE 5 step approach: Effectively identify hazards and consequences; Evaluate risks using a qualitative approach; Identify and implement appropriate control measures to manage and mitigate risks; Monitor and Review the effectiveness of the controls. Participants will understand their responsibilities, the requirements for risk assessment in the workplace and the role of risk assessment in the proactive improvement of health and safety performance.
