Swansea University’s Geopolitical Research Challenges Institute (GCRI) alongside the Global Security, Rights and Development Research Group (GSRD) is proud to host a round table exploring and discussing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War.

The panel will explore various themes and facilitate an exchange and perspectives focusing on the geopolitical consequences of the conflict, humanitarian issues, strategies for ending the war with Russia, and evaluating the prospects for peace and stability in the region.

Key questions we aim to address include:

Why did Russia invade Ukraine?
What could peace look like?
What implications is the war having on the security landscape of Europe?
And will Russia’s war aims end with Ukraine?
Guest speakers include:

Professor Brad Blitz of International Politics and Policy, University College London,
Professor Bettina Renz of International Security, University of Nottingham
Dr Jenny Mathers, of the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University,
Dr Wojciech Michnik, an Assistant Professor of International Relations and Security Studies at Jagiellonian University (Krakow)
Dr Allyson Edwards, lecturer in Global Histories at Bath Spa University,
Dr Victoria Vdovychenko, Centre for Defense Strategies
The event will be chaired by Dr Kristan Stoddart, director of the GCRI. This will be an in-person event.
