Many autistic students at university will benefit from reasonable adjustments to their learning and exams, whether this be extra time, changes in communication style, or placement considerations, etc.

However, without a good grounding in autism and the varied needs behind these adjustments it can be difficult to know how best to implement these adjustments, or why they are needed. What one autistic student needs may vary greatly from the needs of another. An individuals may seem very capable of a task in one environment but need considerable support with the same task in another.

Through this course staff will gain an understanding of the reasonable adjustments process for autistic students, why they are needed, the varying nature of adjustments needs, and how best to implement them.

This course is run by the autism team and will also introduce staff to our service, what we offer and how best to work alongside our team to support autistic students.

Open to All Staff
