Speaker's Biography

Dom Parkes is the Research Development Bid Writer in the Faculty of Medicine, Health & Life Science’s Research Support Hub. He works with academic research-funding applicants from all three of our Faculty's Schools to help them develop and hone their proposals, always with the aim of using clear messaging to really sell the importance of the research and its intended impact to the funder. In addition, he is the Institutional contact for ResearchConnect.

This short course will get you started with using the ResearchConnect online service productively to find relevant research-funding opportunities. It is aimed at anyone involved with developing research proposals, who is interested in accessing and using this large, searchable online database of research-funding opportunities. It’s an entry-level, quick-start course for those who either don’t yet have a Research Connect account or have registered but want to find out more about the basics of using the service.

Learning Outcomes:

Awareness of the ResearchConnect service and its purpose and uses.

Understanding of how to obtain and set up an account.

Essential information needed to get started using the service productively to find funding opportunities, including setting up regular alerts based on keywords.

Target Audience: Anyone at Swansea University whose role includes developing research, and would like to find out more about how the ResearchConnect service can help them to find funding opportunities.
