UKRI are piloting an exciting new Interdisciplinary cross research council responsive mode scheme, with round 2 due to open June 2024.

The scheme will fund interdisciplinary ideas that transcend, combine or significantly span disciplines - supporting breakthrough or disruptive ideas that would ordinarily not be funded by existing UKRI responsive mode schemes.

Do you have an idea for a proposal?

If so, come along to our event on Thursday 11th January at midday to find out more about what UKRI are looking for, get feedback on whether your idea fits with the scope of this new scheme and meet like-minded colleagues interested in interdisciplinary research.

Following a networking lunch, we are inviting interested groups to pitch their proposals to an interdisciplinary panel. The panel will be able to provide advice on how well the idea might be received for this scheme, offer suggestions on how to strengthen the proposal – particularly in relation to the interdisciplinarity of your project – helping to broker new collaborations where possible. We are delighted that colleagues who sit on the Peer Review College for UKRI will be able to join us and share their insights into what makes a great proposal for this scheme.

Full guidance on the scheme can be found here, and updated timeframes for Round 2 will be published shortly.

Agenda:
12:00 PM - 12:30 PM - Lunch & Networking
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM - Call Briefing
Review of the key call specifications & top tips from Assessment College Members
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Pitch 2 Panel
Each elevator pitch will be allocated a strict 3 minute slot, with a further 6 minutes for Q&A, Panel feedback & Brokering. ALL pitches will be held in front of the Panel and an interdisciplinary audience to stimulate discussion and foster new collaborations. There will be opportunities for further discussion during coffee breaks.
