A session dedicated to the methods of creating a safe environment that embraces predominantly Black culture differences. Date: 20th October 2022 Time: 11am – 12pm This event will take place on Zoom. Blurb: Adapting across cultures can be challenging. In this session I will take you through the different aspects of the lived experience of adapting a routine to fit with British corporate culture. We will give you practical guidance on avoiding alienating your Black colleagues, while also exploring the beauty of African and Caribbean cultures. Session plan: · Introduction and welcome (5 minutes) · Personal care – hair and skin in a corporate world (15 minutes) · Clothing – Workplace fashion (10 minutes) · Lunchtime conversations – “Foreign” foods (15 minutes) · Names – True meanings (10 minutes) Question and answer time to conclude the session.
