The duties outlined within the Welsh Language Standards stipulate that organisations should not treat the Welsh language less favourably than the English language, and lay out requirements to promote and facilitate the use of the Welsh language - making it easier for people to use the language in their day-to-day-life.
Under the Standards, the University must take certain steps to outline how it will comply with the Welsh Language Standards and promote the use of the Welsh language. This includes reporting annually to the Welsh Language Commissioner.
The Welsh Language Standards do not apply to all aspects of research activity at the University but may apply to certain elements of public-facing research outputs.

This one-hour interactive workshop will be an opportunity to explore the Welsh language compliance considerations that are required when formulating a research proposal and how to ensure that compliance is achieved.
Delegates will:
• achieve a general understanding of the principles of the Welsh Language Standards Regulations and to what extent they apply to research activities
• develop the ability to identify aspects of research proposals which may need to be compliant with the Welsh Language Standards
• learn how to broadly build this into the research proposal and where to turn for support
Target Audience: Anyone involved in formulating research proposals, particularly from a marketing (public research methods or marketing outcomes) or budgeting perspective
