Conflict, Reconstruction and Memory (CRAM) annual lecture in association with GENCAS

With the significant exception of work on Black women’s intellectual history, international intellectual history has only recently begun to recover and analyse women’s international thought. Building on earlier feminist history, recent work in political theory also points to ‘canon-adjacent’ or ‘wives of the canon’, collaborators who were central to the production of work by ‘great men’, but are later erased in histories of political thought. In this lecture, Patricia Owens discusses one such figure, one side of the most influential celebrity academic power couple in interwar international relations.
