SpeakerProf. Ben Bollig (St Catherine’s College, Oxford University)
This talk looks at the critically acclaimed Argentine film Esteros (2016), in the context of its screenwriter, Andi Nachon’s work as a poet, with reference to both the rise of LGBTQIA+ themed filmmaking in Argentina and growing struggles around farming methods in the Esteros wetlands and elsewhere in that country. It forms part of a wider investigation into the relationship between poetry and film, as studied in Bollig’s forthcoming book Moving Verses: Poetry on Screen in Argentine Cinema (Liverpool UP).
