Wednesday 12 May 2021, 1pm-3pm. Open to external audiences.

Over the last decade, the History Department at Swansea University has been deeply involved in heritage research and community regeneration in the Lower Swansea Valley. Working in partnership with CADW, Swansea Council, the museum sector, local companies, schools, third sector organisations and volunteers, projects have been supported by the AHRC, Heritage Lottery Fund, UKRI, the Welsh Government and others.

With Research Wales Innovation Funding (RWIF) funding, Swansea University is intending to deepen links with statutory heritage bodies in Wales and to become recognised as a national centre for heritage research and training. At this seminar, the RWIF team will discuss recent heritage work including the challenges of working within a landscape altered by Covid. They will also talk about their plans for the future including the development of CPD courses, heritage skills training, curriculum and digital development with local schools, and community projects in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. If you work with heritage, or are interested in doing so, you are very welcome to attend and meet the team.

This joint seminar will be presented by Professor David Turner, Dr Sarah May, Dr Tracy Evans, and Dr Hilary Orange and will be followed by a Q&A.

Zoom links will be provided closer to the time via the mailing list. To register please email Martin Johnes: M.Johnes@Swansea.ac.uk
