From: 13 Oct 2020, 1 p.m.Ada Lovelace Day, held every year on the second Tuesday of October, is an international celebration of the achievements of women in STEM, and something that is particularly celebrated at the Computational Foundry.
This year, we welcome guest speaker Dr Louise Bright, Director of Research and Business Engagement at the University of South Wales, who will be talking about her career path from undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences, to a series of high profile roles in academia, consultancy and research. Further information about Dr Bright can be found here: http://staff.southwales.ac.uk/users/1167-lbright
Dr Bright has worked with Welsh Government on ways in which Research Council income secured by Welsh Universities could be increased. She also co-established the Wales Women in STEM initiative in September 2019 – this platform now has over 180 members with exciting projects planned for the forthcoming year.
Dr Bright will be talking about the challenges and opportunities she has faced during her career, and talking informally with colleagues about working in academia more generally.
