Speaker's Biography

Professor Alan Llwyd is a well known poet and writer. He has published a large number of volumes of poetry as well as anthologies, critical writing, books on Wales’ historical and cultural heritage as well as biogrpahoes and specialist texts on cynghanedd. He won the Chair and the Crown at the 1973 National Eisteddfod, and again at the 1976 National Eisteddfod. Alan worked as an administrative officer for Barddas, and as the magazine’s editor from 1981 until 2011. In 2013 he was appointed as a Professor at the Department of Welsh, Academi Hywel Teifi.

Professor Gwynedd Parry is a member of the Department of Welsh and is a qualified barrister. His research interests lie at the intersection of law, history and language, and especially in the context of Wales and the Welsh language.

Professor Alan Llwyd from the Department of Welsh will be discussing his new book, "Dwylo Coch a Menig Gwynion" (Red Hands and White Gloves.) with Professor Gwynedd Parry. The book traces the Welsh connections of 14 murders and reveals the mystery surrounding some of the cases. Admission is free and all are welcome. Copies of the book will be on sale on the night and the bar will be open. (Please note this is a Welsh medium event.)
