Curated and chaired by Professor in Creativity Owen Sheers
Join Dr Tilly Blyth, Head of Collections and Principal Curator at the Science Museum, as she takes us on a journey into the historical relationship between science and the arts and the role of the imagination in scientific, as well as artistic, practice. Based on the landmark BBC Radio 4/ Science Museum series, Tilly will argue the case for science, as much as art, being culture, illustrating her talk with the sometimes surprising connections between famous works of art and significant scientific objects - from Constable’s cloudscapes and the chemist who named the clouds to the invention of photography and the representation of the natural world in print. To meet the grand challenges of our times we need science and the arts to be in constant, vibrant dialogue. Come and hear about how the conversation started and what its achieved so far…
Followed by a Q&A and book signing.
