Speaker's BiographyProfessor Gwynedd Parry is a member of the Department of Welsh at Swansea University and is a qualified barrister. His research interests lie at the intersection of law, history and language, and especially in the context of Wales and the Welsh language. He has a sustained record of scholarly publications, including monographs, articles and contributions to edited collections. He has served on several national committees, in particular those concerned with the Welsh language, including the Welsh Language Commissioner's Advisory Panel, the Welsh Government's Welsh Language Partnership Council, and the Academic Board of Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales

This year's Edward Lhuyd Lecture will take place on Thursday 7 November in the Wallace Lecture Theatre on Swansea University's Singleton campus at 5:30 pm. This is an annual lecture held jointly by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and the Learned Society of Wales. The lecture aims to showcase some of Wales' brightest scholars and strengthen the Welsh-medium academic community. Professor R Gwynedd Parry will deliver the lecture on the theme ‘Yr Hen Dwrneiod Llengar’ ( The Erudite Lawyers of Old ) . The lecture will be followed by light refreshments at 6:30. All welcome. Please note this is a Welsh medium event.
