Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the availability of £350K of Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF) for pump priming research activity in developing countries. The funding has to be spent by the end of June 2020.

The Funding, being made available via HEFCW, is to be used to support cutting edge research which promotes the economic development and well-being of countries on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Assistance Committee DAC list.

The following categories of research are eligible for the funding:
Capacity and capability building in the UK and developing countries, consistent with purposes of GCRF
Challenge-led interdisciplinary and collaborative research activity, consistent with purposes of GCRF
Pump-priming activities to under-pin GCRF bids to other funders, including relationship building
Generating impact, consistent with purposes of GCRF, from research both within and beyond the sector
Providing an agile response to emergencies where there is an urgent research need or on-the-ground-need.

(Further information on the requirements of GCRF funding is available on their website) https://staff.swansea.ac.uk/reis/finding-funding/gcrf/

The emphasis of the research should be to support the development of larger scale interventions which will make an impact in the developing country.

Deadline for applications is Friday 27 September 2019 and we aim to notify successful applicants by Thursday 31 October 2019.

All GCRF submissions should be made via the dedicated E email address: gcrf@swansea.ac.uk. Please use the following link to access the GCRF application form: https://staff.swansea.ac.uk/reis/finding-funding/gcrf/

Please note that the award is subject to meeting the successful vetting of project partners in accordance with UKRI due diligence requirements.

We hope you will seize the opportunity to strengthen the quality, breadth and strategic relevance of your future research applications through the GCRF bid.
