This event will take the form of a roundtable conversation with renowned modernism scholar, Professor Maud Ellmann (Chicago and Swansea), focusing on frequently overlooked non-metropolitan and marginal positions occupied by nevertheless important actors within cultural modernisms. Drawing on intersectional approaches, discussions will aim to present snapshots of such ‘eccentric’ creative contributions, bringing them in from the margins to centre stage and, in so doing, troubling the processes involved in the construction of the literary canon. These snapshots will reflect some of the important work in the area of modernist studies being undertaken by colleagues at Swansea University and beyond. The session will be free, and open to all comers.
