Join us for ‘Counter-terrorism and Counter-extremism: are they the same or different? Legitimacy in dealing with extremism’, the inaugural lecture from Honorary Professor Lord Carlile of Berriew QC here at Swansea University on 21st March 2018.

The lecture will begin at 6pm and will be held in the Richard Price Lecture Theatre, Richard Price Building, Singleton Campus. It will be preceded by a drinks reception at 5:30pm.

Lord Alexander Carlile joined Swansea University as an Honorary Professor of Law in 2018. During his career, Lord Carlile has held numerous judicial roles, including Recorder, Deputy High Court Judge, and Chair of the Competition Appeal Tribunal. He was the President of The Security Institute.

He has appeared in many high profile cases including the successful defence of the late Princess Diana’s butler Paul Burrell and the largest fraud connected with the London Metal Exchange. Possessing a long list of accolades, Lord Carlile writes frequently for the print media, and is a frequent broadcaster on the law and national security. He is also a former Freedom of Information Commissioner and has written numerous reports on counter terrorism issues.
