Swansea University will next week be hosting an event that will showcase how academia across Universities in Wales can get their research heard in the UK Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales.

The event, which is being held at Swansea University’s Bay Campus on Wednesday 8 November 2017, will be led by the UK Parliament Outreach and Engagement Service in collaboration with Research, Engagement and Innovation Services (REIS), Swansea University. It will offer academia the chance to get to know how Parliament’s role and processes work and how they use research and academic knowledge to inform scrutiny and legislation.

Academics can help to ensure that the decisions that affect people’s lives are taken with the best available evidence. They can learn tips and advice on communicating their research as well as find out how they can identify opportunities to feed their research through these channels.

Using Parliament Office of Science and Technology research into the 2014 REF case studies, this event will also discuss how academics are having impact in the UK Parliament and will give practical advice and information about how to get involved.

The training event will be interactive with plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.
