Margaret Hastings works in the medium of rust.
‘Rust is the very embodiment of beauty created out of dissolution and decay. Thus I find rust to be the perfect medium for subjects where time is an agent of destruction or transformation. I am fascinated by myth and magic, alchemy and archetype, and in this exhibition I portray ancient gods, forgotten monsters, a fallen angel, and the ephemeral nature of youthful beauty. All of these, time has turned to rust.’
Margaret studied Illustration at Swansea College of Art as a mature student, graduating in 2014; this is her first solo exhibition.
