'A Magic Life'
Since its release in November 2016, the new ARQ album ‘A Magic Life’ has had extensive airplay (BBC Radio 2 & 3, BBC Radio London, JazzFM, Radio Kerry, jazzlondonradio, purejazz.com in NYC, Italian Iuslaw web radio) and 4 & 5* reviews in jazz and national press.
Alison Rayner was inspired to call the album A Magic Life following two incidents. The loss of a close friend, who wrote in her own epitaph about how magic her life had been; then a chance encounter with a young boy, who asked her; "Is music stronger than magic?". For Alison, music is a merging of magic and logic.
This inspired her recent album, and this live tour, in which emerges the connections between memory, mortality, magic – and music.
