A stunning virtuoso delivery of the greatest story ever told!

Acclaimed by critics and audiences in theatres and churches throughout the UK, award-winning actor George Dillon presents an unforgettable vision of Jesus in his highly intense, very human and occasionally humorous solo staging of the first Gospel, in a new translation, performed with an original musical score and video background or just by candlelight.

Since it premiered at the Brighton Festival in 2002, The Gospel of Matthew has been seen over 100 times in the UK, including three runs in Edinburgh and appearances at the Greenbelt, Soul in the City and Pentecost festivals as well as performances in Canada, Poland and Bermuda.

Inspired by an encounter with Bob Geldof at Euston Station, created in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, and short-listed for The Stage's 'Best Actor' Award in Edinburgh, Dillon’s epic, impassioned portrayal of Jesus not as a meek and mild lamb to the slaughter but as a contemporary raging fighter for God has not only been moving audiences but has also won the praise of the critics:

“What overwhelms is the absolute relevance of these ancient stories to the contemporary scene…

The radical message of loving one’s enemies has never sounded so revolutionary, straightforward, obvious and utterly sensible.” The Scotsman

“Mesmerising one-man show of sheer brilliance!” The Argus
