Speaker

Dir: Jes Benstock
UK 2011 1hr 37mins Documentary
Andrew Logan, Brian Eno, Grayson Perry
British artist Andrew Logan, loved the world over by celebrities and misfits alike, takes us under his glittering wing and inside his outrageous, anarchic and spectacular costume pageant: the Alternative Miss World Show. He describes the Show as his most important artwork; a fabulous living sculpture that spans forty years of arts and culture. Using live camera, archive and exuberant animation, the film charts the mounting of the 2009 Show, interwoven with its history, the rise, fall and rediscovery, of both the event and the artist at its centre.
‘Benstock’s sideways look at the world of alternative fashion is funny, fabulous and fittingly batty.’ EMPIRE
‘It’s a real celebration of camp British eccentricity, and it refutes Logan’s assertion that the world has gone totally grey.’ LONDON EVENING STANDARD
