Cross-dressing, sword-fighting, ferocious wild beasts and poetic shepherds – all in a Classical paradise which bears an uncanny resemblance to South Wales.

Dating from the time of Shakespeare, Sir Philip Sidney’s romantic comedy was the most-read work of prose fiction for 200 years before disappearing from popular view. Now in this theatrical world premiere , D.J.Britton gives Sidney’s hilarious and lyrical work a new life as part of the 2019 British Shakespeare Association’s visit to Swansea University.

Be ready for multiple disguises, identity confusion, dangerous sleeping potions, impetuous young lovers and a randy older couple who ought to know better. A fast-paced and tender dramatization of a hidden gem of British literature.

From the writer/director of the Lloyd George stage hit The Wizard the Goat and The Man Who Won the War.

Commissioned by National Theatre Wales. Presented by Fluellen Theatre Company in association with the British Shakespeare Association, Theatr Cadair and Taliesin Arts Centre at Swansea University.
