Speaker's BiographyDr Sam Blaxland is a Post-doctoral Fellow and Tutor in History. He is currently writing a book on Swansea University's history to mark its centenary in 2020. He also lectures and tutors on several courses, concentrating generally on the politics of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and, in particular, the politics, society and culture of post-1945 Britain.

But women were crucial to the health and the survival of the party in the decades after the Second World War and this paper will explore the work they did as part of this, covering themes such as political agency, social independence and class.
